How I’ve earned $1400 extra so far this year
(Outside of my business and outside of Medium)
As someone who is passionate about budgeting as a way to make maximum progress towards financial goals, I’m always aware that it’s often not wise to fixate too much on the “cutting expenses” side of things. Not only is there a hard limit on how much you can cut, but too much emphasis on frugality is also a recipe for budget burnout.
Therefore, it’s vitally important to also consider ways to increase the money coming in. If you can negotiate a raise, earn more in your business, or take on a second job or side hustle, clearly that helps.
But there’s also power in smaller opportunities that add a little bit here, a little bit there.
And in fact, in just the past 4 months, I’ve been able to use these smaller opportunities to add an extra $1400 to our bank accounts this year. That money has gotten funneled into our emergency fund, our retirement savings, and our sinking fund to save up for our next home.
Here’s where it all came from, broken down by category and with links for you to check things out if you are interested.
